Giclées are typically defined today as artwork that has been digitally captured and then printed on some type of media
such as fine art paper or canvas using an inkjet printer. Of course the quality of the digital capture, media, and printer
will determine the quality of the giclée.
A high resolution digital camera and controlled lighting are used to perform the image capture of your artwork.
The image is displayed on a color calibrated monitor and compared to the original art. The necessary color balancing adjustments
are made to match the image as close a possible to the artwork. A sample proof is provided
for your approval. The
fee for this service is $100. The final images are printed on the media of your choice.
There is a variety of media that your artwork can be printed on. The goal is to match the artwork to the appropriate media. For example an
image of an oil painting may look best printed on canvas; whereas a water color image may look best on a fine art paper such as
Hahnemuehle German Etching (
www.hahnemuehle.com
) or Epson Premier Art Canvas (
www.epson.com) for oils
and acrylics. Let us know if you have a preference for another paper.
